Birchington-on-Sea is a village within north east Kent, England. It is part of the Thanet district and part of the civil parish of Birchington. As per the 2011 census, the village had approximately 10,000 residents and 4,944 households. As a seaside resort, the village has an economy based around tourism, with various hotels, caravan parks and leisure attractions. The industry of employment of residents in 2011 was 16.1 per cent retail, 17.2% health and social work, 5.8 per cent manufacturing, 9.6% construction, 4.9% transport and storage, and 4.3% hotels and restaurants.
